Academy of Orchestral Studies

The Academy of Orchestral Studies is one of the first projects of the Barenboim-Said Foundation. Through this Academy, Daniel Barenboim passes on his vision of the relationship between conductor and musician.

The Academy of Orchestral Studies aims to create a tradition of musical excellence in Andalusia and Spain. It also sets out to be a firm reference for young musicians who wish to embark on orchestral careers, providing them with the best possible preparation to compete on an international level.

The Academy offers young musicians the opportunity to benefit from the tradition of musical excellence offered by Maestro Daniel Barenboim and the principal players of the Staatskapelle Berlin. The Academy was created with the aim to perfect and complete the music education of students enrolled at Andalusian music schools.

Instruments taught in the Academy include flute, oboe, clarinet, double bass, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, harp, violin, viola, cello and accompanying piano.

Since 2007, the Barenboim-Said Foundation offers, in collaboration with the International University of Andalusia, a master’s course in Orchestral Interpretation. This master’s course aims to specialize and capacitate young musicians in order to facilitate their incorporation into symphonic orchestras.
